Working with WET-Jukskei
This project is the flagship launch project which will prove the entire concept of WET-Africa. It launches at a time when this catchment is the most threatened in South Africa; not just by sewerage, oil and general garbage, but by Acid Mine Drainage water. It is also in one of the most unequal areas of the country, with great wealth and great poverty living side by side.
The project has the immediate ability to create sustainable jobs for some 600 people; encourage recycling in all communities including the business community. By cleaning the 67 kilometres of the Jukskei from Bertrams to the confluence with the Crocodile, there will be an impact on the Hartebeespoort Dam's problems.
This is why I am working with SOUL to make this happen. Our water resources are scarce and precious as are our food resources. Both are inextricably linked as are our livelihoods
