Ashoka and the University of California at Berkeley Beahrs Environmental Leadership Program (ELP) seek support for a compelling new idea to strengthen the effectiveness of environmental leaders worldwide. Ashoka and the ELP propose a partnership to incorporate the powerful success stories and insights of “water and sanitation” social entrepreneurs around the world into the core ELP training curriculum. In summer 2009, with the participation of three inspiring social entrepreneurs and the director of Ashoka’s global Water Innovations initiative, 40 environmental leaders will study successful approaches and emerging opportunities for improving water and sanitation management worldwide, with a particular focus on cases from Asia and Africa. The partnership will also benefit the broader networks of both organizations - the Ashoka Fellows and the Berkeley ELP Alumni. We aim to raise $35,000, through a single sponsor or combined contributions, to implement this proposal.

The Bateleurs - http://www.bateleurs.co.za - is an organisation primarily made up of pilots interested in protecting the environment by using their flying skills and aircraft to fly "stakeholders" over areas under threat. Our aim is to give decision-makers and other interested or vital parties an aerial perspective of the situation or problem they are assessing. The Bateleurs intend to make a difference to environmental and conservation projects. We aim to ensure our natural resources are used wisely and in safe hands.
